Dear Madam Vice President,Â
I am writing to express my gratitude as someone who had the opportunity to participate in this election. Being able to vote was a meaningful experience, giving me a chance to contribute to a brighter future for our country. I felt both hopeful and anxious about the outcome, wondering what it would mean for the future.Â
This election itself was intriguing, especially as I watched people willing to vote again for Donald Trump, despite his record of misogynistic and racist comments. It showed how divided our country remains, with some voters seem to overlook actions and statements that affect women, minorities, and other marginalized groups.Â
It’s difficult to imagine what the future holds under leadership that so many find unsettling or concerning. Many people, myself included, had hoped that our country would move forward with inclusive values. Yet this election showed that certain barriers, like sexism and narrow views on leadership, still influence our society, such as the idea that only men should hold the highest offices, despite women’s equal ability to lead. It’s disappointing that many still cling to this belief.Â
In the end, the next four years might be difficult for some people but there could be still hope for a brighter future in the next election. Young voters like myself, who are still committed to a diverse and equal future, will continue to advocate, participate, and work for a change. Â
Sincerely, Â
Kylie Bizardie
I was not able to volunteer in time before the election. I personally feel this election was quite disappointing to see Trump win, but at the same time it was clear many people would vote for him again. It’s hard to even grasp how the next four years will be, and how it will affect me and many other people. What’s concerning is, what power Trump’s Administration can do now. Mainly women’s rights, as many women in states where abortion did not win in the ballot. Another thing is what kind of policies that could affect Native people, as myself is half Navajo and have friends and relatives who are also Native. Along with this, myself and friends who are attending college, some majoring in education, wonder attending college will be possible for the next few years now that Trump will be in office again soon.
